This year’s theme for Hampton University’s Chapter of APhA-ASP, “Building Your Brand” was birthed by our very own president Christina Jones. Throughout her life, Christina has always been advised that her personal brand has a vital impact on her future. The vigorous coursework of pharmacy school and extracurricular responsibilities that Christina endured during her first and second year of pharmacy school allowed Christina to realize that indeed her personal brand played a very important role in her success. However, the tools that she needed to build her personal brand were not exactly taught in “school.” Instead she had to build these skills; thus, it was then that Christina wanted to use APhA-ASP as a vehicle to provide student pharmacists with the tools they need to build their personal brands. The mission of the APhA-ASP seeks to provide student pharmacists with opportunities for professional growth and it is through this theme and mission that Christina hopes to stress the importance of personal branding and allow her fellow colleagues to understand that their ability to market themselves has a huge impact on their future success as health care professionals.
